UH Tobacco Products Policy

Effective January 2003, the University of Hawai‘i System implemented a new Tobacco Products Policy in an effort to improve the working and learning environment of the university and protect faculty, staff, students and visitors from secondhand smoke exposure while on University of Hawai‘i campuses.

According to the policy, smoking is prohibited in the following areas:

Student Placement Testing and Developmental Education Class Assignment

As an open admission institution, Honolulu Community College enrolls a significant number of students who have not yet acquired the academic skills needed to successfully progress and graduate from their chosen field of study.

It is the purpose of this policy to identify those incoming students who are required to participate in the college placement testing process and to determine if necessary, their appropriate placement in the established developmental reading, writing, and mathematics curricula.

Campus Security Policy To Address The Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act Of 2000

In compliance with the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act (CSCPA) of the Campus Security Department for the University of Hawai’i - Honolulu Community College is providing the following link to the Hawai‘i Criminal Justice Data Center where information regarding registered sex off enders in the State of Hawai‘i can be found.

Workplace Non-Violence College Policy

Consistent with University policy, Honolulu Community College is an institution which encourages the intellectual and personal growth of its students as scholars and citizens and recognizes the need to maintain a safe and secure environment for faculty and staff to fulfill the College’s mission of teaching and service. In order to maintain an environment where these goals can be achieved safely and equitably, Honolulu CC promotes civility, respect and integrity among all members of its community.

Sexual Harassment Policy

It is the policy of the University of Hawaiʻi to provide a safe and comfortable learning and working environment for students and employees. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that can undermine the foundation of trust and mutual respect that must prevail for the University to fulfill its educational mission. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated in any part of the University’s programs and activities. Sanctions will be imposed on members of the University community who violate this policy.

Sexual Assault Policy

Honolulu CC is committed to ensuring a safe and secure college environment for all students and employees and will not tolerate acts of sexual assault. Sexual offense is defined as any forcible or nonforcible sexual act directed against another person without that person’s consent (Definitions in Part V. "Sexual Offenses," Sections 707-741, Hawaiʻi Penal Code). Any member of the Honolulu CC community who commits a sexual offense is subject to criminal prosecution and college disciplinary procedures.

Weapons Policy

The possession or use of lethal weapons on Honolulu CC's premises is strictly prohibited. Lethal weapons include, but are not limited to, firearms, ammunition, spear guns, explosives, and dangerous substances. Students, employees, and others found in violation of this policy are subject to criminal prosecution and/or college disciplinary procedures.
