Fac Dev will also co-sponsor a workshop with the Committee on Social Equity later in the semester. Jerry mentioned he is planning to facilitate one or two more Teacher Talking Seminars this semester. The Wo Innovation in Learning Day (WILD) this past Friday has consumed the time and energy of the Committee members so far this semester. 2. Newsletter - Jerry stated that a Spring Newsletter would be printed and posted on the web in April. There are three new faculty members this semester whose bios will be included. He asked all members of the Committee to identify colleagues who have participated in professional development activities that can be highlighted in the spotlight section of the Newsletter. 3. WILD Debrief - Jerry summarized the activities of last Friday's WILD. The final attendance count was 145 and the vast majority of the evaluations received rated the morning sessions Excellent and Very Good. Lisa Yogi, HCC 3rd Generation Wo Learning Champion, will be submitting a report to the Wo Committee. The continuation of WILD will be based on the evaluation from around the System, and the decisions of the Council of Chancellors and the Council of Chief Academic Officer. 4. Faculty Development Foundation Account - A financial statement was distributed. Leon's "chicken sales" have been a real boom to the account. The Committee reconfirmed the commitment from an earlier email survey of all Fac Dev Committee members, to fund, up to $100, meals for teachers at the Spring HCC to High School Weekend and to fund leis and refreshments at an upcoming workshop co-sponsored by Fac Dev and the Committee on Social Equity. 5. Graduation Party - Jerry stated that because there was no campus Christmas Party, efforts would be made to organize an after graduation party. He will talk to Lorry Suehiro about co-sponsoring the party with the Staff Development Council. He will also ask Earl Nakahara if there will be UHPA money to help fund the party. Jerry stated that the Fac Dev Committee is not the social committee for the campus, but asked that all members consider assisting with the after graduation party. 6. Committee Membership Next Year - The Committee on Committees has distributed committee request forms for next year. Jerry encouraged all members who are currently serving their first to reconsider serving on the Fac Dev Committee again next year. 7. End-of-Year Letter - Jerry stated that he submits an end-of-year report to the FSEC Chair, Chancellor, and Dean of Academic Affairs. He asked all Committee members to be thinking about submitting an end-of-year letter, including a reflection of this year's activities and ways to improve next year's initiatives, before the end of the semester. 8. The Committee ended the meeting by reviewing Spring 2004 Professional Development Fund applications and awarding $3495 in Spring funds.
