Composition
The Committee on Student Affairs is a College-wide committee composed of:
- Four (4) faculty members (two (2) from the University College and one (1) each from Tech 1 and Tech 2). Staggered two-year terms.
- One (1) faculty member from Academic Support. Two-year term
- One (1) faculty member from Student Services. Two-year term
- The Registrar
- The Director of Student Life
- Three (3) Student members
- The Dean of Students Services (ex-officio, non-voting)
- Additional members may be added as needed from year to year
Purpose
The purpose of the Committee on Student Affairs is to provide advice and make recommendations on policies and procedures affecting students and to make recommendations regarding the directories and services for the College's Student Services Program. COSA advises the Dean of Student Services. COSA is one of four (along with FSEC, CPC, and Faculty Development) College-wide committees. It offers an opportunity for its members to get acquainted with college and student-related issues.
Function
The Committee on Student Affairs:
- Reviews major policies and procedures affecting students.
- Forms subcommittees to work on specific issues and asks faculty members who are not on COSA to serve on these committees when they have relevant expertise.
- Advises the Dean of Student Services.
Workload
COSA generally meets once a month. The Chair of COSA receives three credits assigned time per semester.
