Composition
- Five (5) faculty members, all of whom are former awardees
- Two (2) student representatives
Staggered two-year terms are recommended on each committee to provide continuity.
Purpose
The Excellence in Teaching Committee solicits nominations for the annual UH Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award, consisting of a UH Medal and $1,000.
The Committee also evaluates the nominations and selects the awardee.
Function
The Excellence in Teaching Committee:
- Is convened by the Chancellor for the purpose of distributing copies of the Community College Chancellor's Memo (CCCM) on the Excellence in Teaching Award and to inform the Committee about the nominations which have been received.
- Receives materials pertinent to the nominations for their review and discussion.
- Selects the awardee and sends to the Chancellor: names of all nominees, a brief, one paragraph, summary description of each nominee, a copy of the documents which provided the basis for the recommendation, and a short narrative suitable for presentation by the Regent who will make the announcement at graduation.
Workload
The Excellence in Teaching Committee is convened each spring semester. Workload varies depending on the number of nominees and documentation submitted.
