Eligibility

Composition

• The Director of Student Life
• Any number of faculty members who would like to be involved
• Two (2) student representatives appointed by the Director of Student Life

Purpose

The Graduation Planning Committee plans and coordinates the activities of the HCC Spring Commencement Ceremony.

Function

The Graduation Planning Committee:

• Selects both the keynote speaker and the student keynote speaker for graduation.
• Selects the site and time for commencement.
• Is responsible for the set-up and clean-up for the ceremony.
• Makes recommendations regarding the script used at the commencement.
• Selects the band used at the ceremony.
• Selects the commencement theme.

Workload

The Graduation Planning Committee meets an average of once per month during the fall semester. During the spring semester, meetings are scheduled an average of twice a month. On the day of graduation, committee members are expected to arrive at commencement early and stay late.
