Composition
- Four (4) faculty members: Two (2) from the University College and one (1) each from Tech 1 and Tech 2
- One (1) faculty member from Academic Support (excluding Academic Computing)
- A coordinator from Academic Computing (ex-officio)
- The Director of the Educational Media Center (EMC) (ex-officio)
- Additional members may be assigned as needed from year to year
Purpose
The Technology Advisory Committee informs and advises the coordinator(s) of Academic Computing and the Director of the EMC on matters involving budget, equipment, and personnel, and encourages faculty participation in discussions concerning new instructional technology. The College is rapidly changing in its use of technology; it is the responsibility of the Technology Advisory Committee to ensure that these changes are consistent with the overall needs and direction of the College.
Function
The Technology Advisory Committee:
- Advises the coordinator(s) of Academic Computing and the Director of the EMC on the purchase of computers, computer peripherals, software, AV equipment, and related items.
- Reviews and monitors supplies for computing services, printing services, and maintenance of computers and AV equipment.
- Works on budgets for all services and activities emanating from Academic Computing and the EMC.
- Plays a role in reviewing and revising copyright policies and procedures.
- Promotes integration of major technological instructional systems into curricula.
Workload
The Technology Advisory Committee normally meets once a month. On occasion, it may meet more often.
