Services for Students: Financial Aid


When your financial aid is successfully processed, the Cashier's Office will apply your financial aid towards your student account according to the dates required by Federal Regulations. Please note that if your enrollment level is not the same as the level your financial aid award was based upon, the disbursement of your financial aid may be delayed and/or changed.

How to Apply

Applying for financial aid is a yearly process. The FAFSA must be completed every year in order to receive financial aid for each school year. Here is a video of the financial aid application process.


Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward receiving federal aid for college. There are two ways to complete the FAFSA:

Once your application has been reviewed and your eligibility has been determined, you will be notified through your UH email account advising you to view your financial aid award via MyUH Portal. Please read the email and financial aid award carefully. A financial aid award is based on the following:

Types of Aid


Grants are a form of aid that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility is based upon financial need as determined through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The following are the types of grant aid programs that are offered:

Federal Pell Grants
Federal Pell Grants do not need to be repaid (unless you do not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements) and are available to students who have not received a Bachelor's Degree or higher.


Financial aid programs are regulated by federal, state, and institutional policies. Most financial aid guidelines specify the following basic eligibility requirements:

Financial Aid

Students who have Fall 2017 financial aid awards (as displayed on MyUH) do not need to make payment on July 21. The pending financial aid award will hold classes through the payment deadline.
