Students Paying On Own

January 25 is deadline for signing up to join our Honolulu CC team.

Perks when using "47" club code on entry form when registering are:

  1. Access to Aloha Stadium pizza party (using special bracelet inside Presidents' 100 Club Goodie Bag you pick up at Expo)
  2. Invite to Honolulu CC's on-campus picnic - RSVP requested

November 30 - January 25: Sign up either ONLINE or via USPS (hardcopy mailed directly to Great Aloha Run office).

Must complete both Steps 1 & 2 after sub.

  2. Register for the Great Aloha Run. Select President's Club Code #47 on entry form or online.

Honolulu CC Presidents' 100 Club T-Shirt

If you registered with our team before the early entry deadline (December 1), you will be eligible for a limited edition Honolulu CC Great Aloha Run Presidents' 100 Club #47 t-shirt that you can wear on Race Day! Tentatively, team t-shirt will be available from about February 10-14 (or sooner) at the Apprenticeship Office at Bldg 4, Rm 115. Goodie Bag Pick-Up

Each Presidents' 100 Club with at least 50 members will receive a Goodie Bag at the Hawaii Pacific Health Great Aloha Sports, Health & Fitness Expo.

Each Presidents' 100 Club with 100 or more members will have access to the Hoʻomaikaʻi post-race party at the Aloha Stadium. Share celebration stories and photos while enjoying Papa John's Pizza, HMS Host tossed salad and more!

Monday, February 17 from 10am to 12:30pm. RSVP preferably by Friday, February 7, if you think you'll be attending for estimate headcount! Food donations welcome! Email hcchlth@hawaii.edu or call 845-9247.

Need help getting started? Participate in optional 8-week In Training Workshops to help you get started begins December 15 (Sundays) at 6:45am at Kapiʻolani Park Bandstand in Waikiki.

Do GAR anyway? Get additional perks! Sign up via hardcopy at Honolulu CC by Friday, November 22 or online by Friday, November 29 to get Great Aloha Run In-Training T-Shirt (for Honolulu CC t-shirt you must also email us names & emails of those in your group who join us by Friday, November 29). If you compete the run, you get the official GAR Finisher's t-shirt, too! You'll also be invited to our exclusive Post-Race Picnic here at Honolulu CC - relax and unwind with great food and company!

I Need Help Getting Started In Order To Complete My Goal Of Doing The Entire 8.15 Miles. What Might Be Suggested?

You should always check with your physician to ensure you are medically able to train for such an event. Read Medical Tips for Great Aloha Run.

Use our Honolulu CC Walking Map [PDF] if you're interested in a ¼ mile or 1 mile walk around campus. It's easier than you think to work in a walk during your time here on campus.

In Training Workshops begin at 6:45 AM starting December 17 at Kapiʻolani Park Bandstand every Sunday for 8 weeks. Sign up by going online to print a In Training Workshop Registration /Waiver form [PDF], complete it, and bring it with you on your first day. Each workout includes: energetic warm-up, training walk/run by distance, stretching, guest speaker and Q/A.

Don't overdo and build up your stamina and endurance. Keep track of your progress.

Be sure to wear proper fitting and comfortable footwear. An older pair of shoes may not provide you with the proper support. Read more information on walking shoes.

What Is The Timeline Of What Happens If I Join The Team? Deadlines Or Target Dates Are As Follows:

Friday, November 22: Hardcopy submission deadline to the Honolulu CC Health Office. Turn in completed entry form and payment to Health Office (Bldg 2, Rm 108A) or Apprenticeship Office (Bldg 4, Rm 115).

Friday, November 29:

December 16 to January 31: Free In-Training T-Shirt pick-up at Running Room, 819 Kapahulu Avenue, Honolulu. No rainchecks if you miss January 31 pick-up deadline. Photocopy of ID required for pick-up of t-shirts for yourself, friends and family.

Friday, February 7: Deadline to RSVP for Honolulu CC Post-Race Picnic attendance (for registered Club #47 participants) and to return signed Honolulu CC Great Aloha Run Consent Forms [PDF] to the Health Office or Apprenticeship Office. Email hcchlth@hawaii.edu or call (808) 845-9245 for headcount.

Monday, February 17: The Great Aloha Run Is Finally Is Here!

  • Driving? Get up early and secure your parking. Stadium parking opens at 3:00 AM with last buses leaving at 6:00 AM.
  • Last buses leave the stadium at 11:45 AM for downtown.
  • Official Race Day Information
  • Post-Race Party at Aloha Stadium for those not coming to Honolulu CC. May need bracelet from Presidents' 100 goodie bag for entry
  • Honolulu CC Post-Race Picnic at campus till 12:30 PM open to invited guests who registered using Club Code #47. We welcome attendees with dietary restrictions to bring their own food and welcome donations of food, talented musicians to entertain and help with manpower to help that day with clean-up, etc.
