About the Program

Our Architecture, Engineering and Construction Technologies (AEC) program will prepare you for immediate employment as architectural or engineering drawing technicians, or construction management interns. If you are already employed in this field, our AEC program can help you improve your knowledge and skills, providing you with advancement opportunities.

The emphasis of this program is on state-of-the-art technologies that are used in building construction documentation. These include 2D and 3D drawing with Auto CAD, 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) Autodesk Revit, visualization tools like 3DS Max and Autodesk Fusion, Lumion rendering software, Trimble Sketchup 3D modeling software, ProCore Project management software, ProEst estimating software, and Microsoft Project Scheduling software. Specialized equipment, such as total station surveying equipment, 3D LIDAR Scanners, additive manufacturing technologies, including 3D scanning and 3D printing, and virtual reality and augmented reality technologies.

We also offer continuing education CAD training in Revit and AutoCAD through a partnership with the Pacific Center of Advanced Technology Training (PCATT), so you can always keep your skills up-to-date – even after graduation!

Use technical, mathematical, and visualization skills to create computer-assisted drawings.

Specific
  • Read textbooks, handouts, blackboard instructions, online text, technical manuals, and blueprints.
  • Do basic math functions, solve simple equations, and complete ratios.

Environmental Tolerance

Function safely in a computer-assisted drafting lab.

Specific

Work for prolonged periods amidst: Artificial lighting, Air conditioning, Electrical equipment

In addition to the Tuition, other costs include:

  • Textbooks: Approximately $600 over the two-year program.
  1. Apply to Honolulu Community College.
  2. Prerequisite: Placement in ENG 100
  3. Recommended:
  • Recommended high school preparation: CAD Drafting, Geometry, English, Art, Basic Science, andComputer Literacy.
  • High School CAD drafting alternative: Equivalent training/office experience
  • ENG 100 is a prerequisite for AEC 111, 211, 237, 277 and needed to be satisfied before enrolling in second and third-semester AEC courses. ENG 209 is a prerequisite for AEC 163 and needs to be satisfied before enrolling in this third semester AEC course.
