Continuing Education here at Honolulu Community College (HonCC) offers a wide range of training programs, courses, and services to meet the needs of business and industry as well as the community and special groups.
About the Program
HonCC has expertise in more than 25 specialty areas offered at the college from trades to advanced technologies. These topics can be delivered on-campus or on-site, in short, flexible training modules. Contracts can be arranged for customized training whether you’re a business or community organization. Courses Offered
The Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training offers the latest in advanced technology curriculum. From cyber security, routing/switching to virtualization, PCATT can help you by providing the skills you need with hands-on training led by instructors who are experts in the tech industry.
Honolulu Community College Office of Continuing Education offers non-college credit courses in elementary and intermediate Japanese and Korean language. These courses are designed for individuals interested in learning basic language skills for conversation.
Courses are tailored for those interested in learning the language for fun, while others are helpful for business and travel purposes. Courses will continue to be added and we welcome your suggestions.
Placement test for Asian Languages and books are NOT required.
How to Register for Asian Languages

The mail-in option applies if you are paying with a check or purchase order. Fill out one registration from per student. For additional names attach a separate sheet. Include all required information for each name. Make check payable to University of Hawai’i and mail to:

Transfers and Refund Policy
To transfer to another course or completely withdraw from a course, call the Continuing Education office (845-9296) two business days prior to the first day of class. Thereafter, refunds will not be allowed. Refunds can sometimes take 4 to 6 weeks to process. Charge Card refunds will be credited to your account.
Note: Students registering by purchase order will be billed regardless of non-attendance unless notification of withdrawal is made by the specified refund deadline.
The Early Childhood option includes a non-credit program, PACE (Professional and Career Education for Early Childhood). PACE Workshops are geared to meet training and enrichment needs of early childhood practitioners on O’ahu. These workshops may be used for CDA teacher training hours, DHS training hours, and when converted to credit may be used towards the Associate Degree in ECE.
Student Requirements
To benefit from this course, you should be able to read and write a minimum of one paragraph (5 sentences) in English. Program Information
Honolulu CC English Language Learner Options (HELLO), formerly known as Introduction to College English, is a non-credit ESL program with several levels/options for improving English language proficiency. Each level is designed to help those who use English as their second language to improve their language skills for college and/or work. All language skills are taught including listening, speaking, reading, vocabulary, writing, and grammar.
HELLO helps you:
- Increase reading skills and proficiency
- Practice writing skills in both sentences and paragraphs
- Learn to follow and understand language found in short academic mini-lectures
At the end of this program you will be able to:
- Use context clues to get the meaning of unknown words in reading selections
- Understand a variety of listening types such as conversations, interviews, and television talk shows
- Speak confidently in pairs and groups
- Identify main ideas and important information in reading selections
- Write grammatically-correct sentences and short paragraphs
Note: This program is for people for whom English is not their native language. Credit English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are also available.

Voyaging and Maritime Education Program
Ever wondered what it would be like to be a part of an ocean voyaging crew? Or wanted to learn how to do repair and maintenance work to ocean vessels such as a canoe? Now here’s your chance!
Through taking our Voyaging Crew Member training program, you will be introduced to the history and foundations of voyaging, the importance of the wa’a and the kuleana and roles each crew member will need to execute efficiently and safely, to the planning and execution of actual voyaging time on the ocean.
Taking care of our ocean vessels is very important and is critical to keeping the Crew safe on their journey. Through taking our Malama Wa’a program, you will be provided with training on how to utilize shop tools and equipment safely geared specifically for the purposes of repair and fabrication techniques.
