Title IX is a landmark federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in education. Members of Honolulu Community College, guests, and visitors have the right to be free from all forms of sex/gender harassment, discrimination and misconduct, examples of which can include acts of sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. All members of the campus community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others.
The Title IX Coordinator has the specific responsibility to provide prompt and effective response to all complaints of sex discrimination or harassment for faculty, staff and students.
The Title IX Coordinator reports directly to the Chancellor of the college. Questions regarding Title IX should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator. Anyone wishing to make a report relating to sex discrimination or harassment may do so by reporting the concern to the college’s Title IX Coordinator.

Formal Reporting Offices
The college encourages victims to talk to somebody about what happened – so victims can get the support they need, and so the college can respond appropriately.
The college has a responsibility to provide a safe and nondiscriminatory environment for all students, and must take this responsibility into consideration when the college is put on notice of an allegation. Thus, while the college will take into consideration requests for confidentiality, the college cannot guarantee that it can maintain confidentiality when the college has notice of an allegation.
Before revealing any information, please make sure you understand the reporting obligations of the person you are speaking with. Most employees are required to report all the details of an incident (including the identities of both the victim and alleged perpetrator) to the Title IX coordinator. Any information shared with responsible employees will place the college on notice.
If you need more time to think through the situation, there are confidential resources available to assist you.
Please be aware that a criminal investigation is separate and distinct from Honolulu Community College’s institutional response. You may choose both, one, or neither of these options, depending on your individual decision. These options are available simultaneously, and Honolulu Community College will cooperate with law enforcement agencies if a criminal investigation occurs.
Information shared with the contacts below will put Honolulu Community College on notice of an allegation.
