About the Program

Our Liberal Arts (LBRT) program offers a wide range of courses in subject areas in Humanities, Kulana Hawai‘i (Hawaiian Studies), Language Arts, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. Our courses at the 100- and 200-level meet the University of Hawai‘i general education requirements, and may be applied towards a four-year baccalaureate degree. We also provide courses that meet pre-major requirements in many areas in the arts and sciences, as well as courses that meet pre-professional requirements (College of Business, College of Education, College of Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, etc.)

As a Liberal Arts student, you’ll have an opportunity to complete the first two years of college here at Honolulu Community College, then have the option of transferring to UH Mānoa, UH West O‘ahu, or UH Hilo to obtain a four-year baccalaureate degree. Choosing a liberal arts major also prepares you for employment and careers with strong written and oral communication skills, team work, critical thinking, and quantitative reasoning.

In addition to the Tuition, other costs include:

  • Textbooks: Approximately $200–$300 per semester.
