About the Program

Our Asian Studies (ASAN) is designed to give students with an interest in working, living, or studying in Asia, or working with people from Asia the opportunity to gain practical and cultural knowledge and experience with Asian cultures while completing their AA degree. This academic credential is included on student transcripts and can be the first step toward employment in a variety of professional and academic fields related directly or indirectly to Asia.

The certificate prepares students to pursue UH system baccalaureate degrees in Asian Studies programs. The ASAN-ASC does not require foreign language study, though any Asian language course can be applied for credit toward receiving the certificate.

In addition to the Tuition, other costs include books and supplies.

  1. Apply to Honolulu Community College.
  2. A grade of “C” or higher must be earned for all courses required in the certificate.
