About the Academic Subject Certificate 

Good communication skills is one of the most highly sought after skills by employers. The ability to communicate is critical for success, not just in a job or career, but in everyday life. Our Communication (COM) program will provide you with an opportunity to study speech and interpersonal communication leading to an Academic Subject Certificate in Communication. This academic credential is included on student transcripts and can be the first step toward employment in a variety of professional and academic fields related directly or indirectly to speech and/or communication.

In our Communications program, you’ll get to participate in classroom presentations and debates, conduct human interaction experiments, and learn advanced interviewing, persuasion, and leadership techniques.

Tuition plus cost of books and supplies.

  1. Apply to Honolulu Community College (link to the new student section).
  2. To receive this credential, the student must complete courses in Speech.
  3. A grade of “C” or higher must be earned for all courses required in the certificate.
