Important Update for Spring 2026 New Student Registration
Aloha New Students,
Welcome to Honolulu Community College! We are excited you have decided to start your academic journey with us and hope to learn more about why you decided to attend Honolulu CC.
Starting October 1, 2025, to remove your New Student Registration (NSR) hold, please complete Step 1: Watch the NSR video (see below) and Step 2: Complete the NSR Google Assessment Form. Your Counselor will schedule a 1-on-1 appointment within 1-3 business days to prepare for registration on November 14, 2025.
NOTE: You will not be able to register from December 12, 2025 thru January 2, 2026 due to a system upgrade. Please connect with your Academic Counselor for next steps.
* If you are admitted to Honolulu CC after December 15, 2025, please complete Steps 1 and 2 and your Counselor will provide further instructions.

Step 1: Watch NSR Video
Step 2: Complete the NSR Google Assessment Form to register.
YOU MUST LOG INTO YOUR UH GMAIL ACCOUNT TO FILL OUT THE GOOGLE FORM TO REGISTER.
Step 3: Counselor will schedule a STAR Balance Appointment to assist with registration. Check your UH Gmail Account for the appointment confirmation (1-3 business days). If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, send an email to honcouns@hawaii.edu or call 808-845-9162 to reschedule your appointment.
Native Hawaiian Students: The Native Hawaiian Center will schedule a STAR Balance Appointment to assist you with registration. Check your UH Gmail Account for the appointment confirmation (1-3 business days). If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, send an email to the Hawaiian Center (hulilik@hawaii.edu) or call 808-844-2345 to reschedule your appointment.
Step 4: Attend NSR appointment to register for classes. Your NSR hold will be removed during the appointment.

Step 6: Next Steps After Your Register
Here are some next steps after you register:
- Finalize your aid:
- VA Students – Fill out the ECRF Form to certify your classes after you register or contact Scot Parry sparry@hawaii.edu for more information.
- Enrollment Certification Request Form (eForm on Kuali Build)
- Financial Aid – Contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions 808-845-9116 or email honccfao@hawaii.edu
- VA Students – Fill out the ECRF Form to certify your classes after you register or contact Scot Parry sparry@hawaii.edu for more information.
- Refer to Lamakū for your online classes
- First day of instruction is on January 12, 2026
- Participation Verification (Attend First Week of Instruction): Students must attend or participate in their class to avoid being dropped from the class.
