Whether you’re a recent high school graduate, returning to college to finish your degree, or looking to enhance your job skills to take your current career to the next level, you’ll feel right at home at Honolulu Community College (HonCC). Many of our students earn a two-year Associate degree or Certificate, then continue on their career path. Others begin their academic journey at HonCC, then transfer to a four-year university to earn a baccalaureate degree. Whatever your academic and career goals may be, we’re here to help you achieve them.

“After graduating from high school, I enrolled in college without a plan or true sense of direction. I merely wanted to get by. Eventually, I dropped out and worked in retail for the next seven years. Though I excelled in the work force, I didn’t find much value in the work I was doing and began to want more for my future. Through this realization, I decided to return to college and finish what I had started. Choosing HonCC was one of the best decisions I ever made. The counselors, staff, and support services are always there to guide and support me with my academic needs. Since HonCC has a diverse student population of all different age ranges, I never once felt out of place. After working hard to complete my first semester back as a full-time student, I achieved a 4.0 GPA. I’m excited to continue my academic journey with HonCC and graduate with a degree in Liberal Arts. Ultimately, my long-term goal is to transfer to UH Mānoa and pursue a concurrent degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Social Work.”

“At HonCC, the class sizes are small and less intimidating, so it’s easier to communicate with the professors and fellow classmates. I really liked the campus environment; the HonCC counselors were really helpful, and the student support services are great. I have a young child, so juggling school and family obligations can be challenging. But, whenever I needed help, I could count on the HonCC staff and resources to be there to support me. I earned my AA degree in Liberal Arts from HonCC last semester and am currently enrolled in the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa. I hope to eventually earn my CPA license and work in the field of accounting.”

“My first college experience after high school was at UH Mānoa. I had a hard time making the adjustment and my grades suffered. After my first year, I transferred from UH Mānoa to HonCC, and it was the best decision I ever made. The HonCC classes are small, and the professors are down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I also liked the diversity of students at HonCC. This past year, I earned my Natural Sciences degree at HonCC, and now I’m back at UH Mānoa pursing a Civil Engineering degree. If I could do it all over again, I would have started out at HonCC.”
