Expected Family Contribution (EFC): This is the number used to determine your eligibility for federal student aid. The federal government calculates your EFC based on the information you provided on your FAFSA and can be found on your Student Aid Report (SAR).
Outside Resources: This amount reflects any scholarships, stipends, and other financial assistance received from an organization, agency, and/or an office other than the HonCC Financial Aid Office. If you are receiving aid that is not reflected on your financial aid award offer, you are required to notify the HonCC Financial Aid Office in writing.
Need: This amount is determined by taking your cost of attendance and subtracting your EFC and outside resources.
Financial Aid Offered: This is the amount of aid the HonCC Financial Aid Office can offer you based on all the information provided and funds available.
Types of Aid: HonCC administers a variety of financial aid. Please be aware of the type of aid you have been offered. Some types of aid may require you to complete additional steps before receiving the award.
Disbursements: While most aid is given to students at the beginning of the semester, some students may not receive the full amount of their aid until the middle of the term. Furthermore, the dates are an estimate and monies can be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Expected Enrollment Level: This is the number of credits you must be registered for to be eligible for your financial aid offer. If you are not enrolled at this level, your financial aid offer may be changed or cancelled, or your disbursement may be delayed. Classes at other campuses may be considered as part of your enrollment if the courses are applicable to your degree program AND you are enrolled in at least one class at Honolulu CC.
